This project is suggesting a use case for a system for the identification of Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) that could be deployed within a cloud environment. Having such a system in place could help with the diagnosis and potentially speed up the procedure of identifying cognitive impairment within patients’ MRI brain scans. Apart from this, the project also proposes the effects of data augmentation and transformations applied to training data and the effects it has on evaluation metrics for image classification. Different model architectures will be compared based on evaluation metrics for the task of image classification of (AD) and also the effects of using pre-trained weights from medical and non-medical domains. A deep learning environment is proposed for the experimentation of different model architectures and results will be compared using a cross validation method to give a more robust metric of accuracy. Also, the project gives details on the deployment options that are available for the trained models which will be utilised in Semester Two where most of the development will take place.
Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works. Steve Jobs
Development, on the other hand, is the engine that drives these digital experiences forward, translating design concepts into functional realities. With each line of code, developers breathe life into ideas, transforming visions into tangible products that enrich and empower users’ lives. Agile methodologies empower development teams to adapt and evolve in response to changing needs, ensuring that products remain relevant and responsive in an ever-changing landscape.
The evolution of design and development is a continuous journey, marked by exploration, experimentation, and growth. Emerging technologies, tools, and trends open new possibilities, empowering designers and developers to push the boundaries of what’s possible. Embracing change and embracing a mindset of lifelong learning is essential, ensuring that professionals stay ahead of the curve in a rapidly evolving industry.
Ultimately, the fusion of design and development is more than just a collaboration; it’s a symbiotic relationship that fuels progress and innovation. By working in harmony, designers and developers can overcome challenges, seize opportunities, and create solutions that truly make a difference. As we look to the future, the potential for what can be achieved through this partnership is boundless, promising a world where technology and creativity coexist to improve the human experience.
